Solar power in the Philippines

[ad_1]

This video shows my solar energy setup here in Manila, Philippines. There are three 40 watt panels, a 10 watt panel and a 5 watt panel. Suitable for charging devices, lighting and much more.

The 5 watt panel either runs a USB fan or charges a 1.7Ah Lithium-ion battery.

The 10 watt panel charges a 7Ah deep cycle battery which runs a raspberry pi connected to ethernet.

The 3×40 watt panels (120 watt total) charge a 100 Ah solarmaster (motolite brand) battery which I use for charging gadgets like phones, tablets and the kind of thing. I also have a 500 watt inverter connected so I could potentially run pretty much any household item in an emergency situation.

I just got back from a crd king store in La Union, I ordered 4 100 watt panels via them from manila, I noticed while I was there e bikes are like 50 percent off but since lto has "new rules for them" they are sort of a "pink elephant now" I know some people care about the environment but almost all consumers want what is cheaper and easy, if e bikes have same lto requirements I doubt if many will be sold even at 50 percent off. I forgot to mention I got the 100 watt panels for like 2990.00 each that brings total to like 19 now.

Hi, thanks for the nice idea. I'm also doing off grid solar power for some of my electricity load in my house, may I kindly ask as parallel connection if required to have a blocking diode for each in every solar panels? as I observe 100w 12v panel I bought already having diode on terminal box.

    Thanks and regards

How much did your system cost?  How much do you imagine it saves in electricity per month?

I am planning on retiring to the Philippines and really interested in how to set up a system for my home.
