Solving the global cooking problem with solar energy

More than 3 billion people worldwide cook meals over fires of wood, charcoal, and plant and animal waste. The resulting air pollution causes four million premature deaths every year, making cooking the fourth highest leading cause of death on the planet.

Stored solar thermal energy technology developed by researchers at the Institute for Sustainability, Energy, and Environment provides a clean way to cook food, heat homes, and provide electricity for lighting or device charging.
